Frazer Theatre for hire

New extension

Are you looking for a place for your Pilates or Yoga class to meet? Have you plans for a small art exhibition, but nowhere to stage it?

Do you need a room to hold a regular daytime lecture or meeting or perhaps you’re looking for a real theatre to stage a play or gig?

Then the Knaresborough Players may have just the venue you are looking for.
Tucked away behind Tesco’s on the High Street, is the Frazer Theatre, ready to serve the community of Knaresborough and the local area.
As well as being a working theatre which is ideal for small professional and amateur groups, the Frazer Theatre has a recently completed extension that houses a light, airy community room which is available for hire by local groups.

Additionally there are new kitchen and bar facilities.

Accessible by stairs and platform lift, the room has stunning views over Knaresborough across to the White Horse, and is ideal as a space to hang and display artwork of all kinds.

“In recognition that the Frazer Theatre is truly an asset to this market town, the Knaresborough Players are actively seeking to encourage its use by all sections of the community,” said committee member, John Westmancoat.
“The main theatre has recently been the venue for the hugely popular and highly talented bands Kerfuffle and the Larkrise Band. The Knaresborough Players are also keen to re-launch the successful film club.”
Once the ballroom for the long-disappeared Elephant and Castle Hotel, the current theatre building has been a bingo-club, and has even played host to boxing matches.
Since the 1980s the theatre has been a permanent home for the Players.
“Hiring out the theatre and community room will ensure that this hidden gem, a member of the national Little Theatre Guild, remains open for use by the local community,” added John. “Proceeds from hires would go towards the upkeep of the property to ensure its viability through the Players’ Lift Off fund.”
