Generation Arts is a drama based youth group that runs at the Frazer Theatre. We run two drama groups on a Monday evening:

5pm-6.30pm – 7-11 year olds – An introduction to art and drama

7pm- 8.30pm – 11-15 years – For more advanced members who have a passion for Performing Arts

We encourage both our groups to work together in their performances, giving our members the chance to work together and meet new friends.
The Frazer has an array of props and costumes which all members can explore and get involved in. We have full use of the stage, lights and auditorium which make our performances professional and fun. We also have use of the community room; which is a spacious, modern performance area for rehearsals and games.

There are three leaders, all with full degrees in performing arts and each with different strengths including: dance, singing and acting as well as set design, lights, props and costume. Each Leader has experience in working with young children and have been long term members of the Frazer Theatre.

“I have always been interested in Performance Arts and have completed my Degree in Performance and the Arts (Harrogate College and York University). My main passions are musicals and comedy. I have a secret love for anything Disney and really love working on productions with any of these included! When the Frazer gave me the opportunity to run Generation Arts I grabbed the chance to be able to work in a fully active theatre. The team at the Frazer are always amazing at supporting Generation Arts; giving us the opportunities to perform on the stage, using the props and costume and giving the chance for our members to explore our amazing theatre. I really do feel that Generation Arts is an amazing opportunity for children who enjoy performing to meet new friends, learn new skills and perform in a professional way.”

“I have a true passion for the arts and have diplomas in both Drama and Performance Art, as well as 3D design. My main passion is Art, I try to involve our members in set design and costume as much as I can and run regular activities to make and design props, the most recent session was making Masks for our upcoming musical. I currently work as a support worker so I have a lot of experience with working with people of all ages with learning or physical disabilities. I have a real passion for equality and diversity and aim to make Generation Arts a group for anyone who want to join us!”

“I have a large passion for the theatre and have a lot of past experience and background in performing arts. My dance experience started from a young age and I enjoy working with youngsters developing routines. I also have had a lot of experience in acting this also started from a young age which I then went on to study at college and university. My aim is too get more local youngsters involved in Acting, Dancing and Singing along with enjoying themselves, meeting new friends and sharing a passion too for performing arts.”

Each session is £3.50 which can be paid monthly or weekly, whichever works for you!

We have places available at the moment but they do go very quickly so if you are interested you can contact us through generationarts@hotmail.co.uk.

The first session is free and lets members see what we do and get involved. Parents are invited to join us on the first session but we do find most kids want to explore for themselves!
