2019 has seen an amazing acceleration for The Paul Mirfin Band following the release of their debut album ‘Ancient Roads’. The title track was selected as track of the week on BBC Introducing and they have received 4 star reviews from RnR Magazine and Cross Rhythms. This led to a proposal from Tony Cummings, renowned music journalist and owner of Light Song record company, who signed them for their first recording contract.
The band, based in Knaresborough, have a distinct sound that brings a Yorkshire slant to Americana music with influences such as Johnny Cash, Mumford & Sons and David Crowder. With a background working on the railways and childhood years in Sheffield, Paul’s melodies and lyrics are full of Northern grit and honesty. They’ve played at festivals and concert venues in the UK and California and were featured on a special railway edition of BBC 1 Songs of Praise.
