Paper Zoo Theatre Company presents Blue Remembered Hills for ten performances only as part of the Company’s regional tour. Originally written for television, Blue Remembered Hills is a deceptively simple play about a group of eight year old children growing up in the Forest of Dean during the Second World War. Through their innocent eyes we see the strains of living with fear and uncertainty, as well as the petty rivalries and jealousies that fuel their games. As the children bicker and play, their innocence is tainted by the shadow of violence leading to a tragic outcome. Using their trademark blend of music, movement and humour, Paper Zoo presents an energetic performance of this moving tale of lost innocence.

Sue is going out with Gary, but he flirts with Penny and the other girls at every opportunity. Sharon and Rick like each other but are too shy to tell each other. Eddie is challenged by the boys to persuade "frigid" Bridget to "touch his whatsit" by closing time, over the course of the night he tries everything, with very little success. The owner of the club, aging rocker Eric "Rubber-legs" De Vere, watches and lends an ear to the young people as they navigate the rituals of teenage fashion, music, sexual moves and relationships

If anyone wondered quite why she was such a booze-soaked hellraiser in her time, her autobiography, Bloody Mary: My Story, offers up ample reason.

Past Masters are a group of musicians from Sheffield , who were formed in the year 2000 by former Dave Berry & The Crusiers lead guitarist Dave Robinson, along with ex Cruisers bassist Derek Brown, Cadillacs rhythm guitarist Malc Towndrow, sax player Mick Batty and Drummer David Eyre. The band specialises in the music of the late fifties through to the seventies and feature many of the best loved guitar and sax based hits from this magical period in time. They were joined in 2011 by Daniel Martin and Adrian Fountain to boost the instrumental and vocal power of the band which allows a considerable repertoire of vocal harmony songs as well as golden instrumental numbers. There are no fewer than five lead vocalists in this line up. Hits from Elvis, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, The Everley Brothers, Carl Perkins, Cliff Richard, The Shadows, Billy Fury, The Beatles, Acker Bilk, Gerry Rafferty and everything in between makes this a show not to be missed - it's all in there and it's LIVE. Several of the band members double up on each others instruments and there are three lead guitarists on show. Kula Productions is please to bring Dick Gaughan to the Frazer Theatre in Knaresborough. I met Dick a number of times when I lived in Edinburgh as I designed covers for a few of his albums including the splendid Sail On. Of course Dick is probably best known for his 1989 Topic Records release Handful of Earth which is now rightly regarded as a bona fide classic. The photo on this page was taken for the inside cover of Sail On by Dave Harrold – at the time a young Edinburgh photographer who now seems to have dropped off the radar! It's a superb shot taken down on Leith's waterfront (where I use to live) and where Dick hails from. It captures the power and strength of not only Dick's singing and music but also of his left-wing political views – a true Scottish troubadour. John Haxby

Originally hailing from New Zealand, "Kiwi" Ian now lives in Knaresborough and has hosted the weekly 4X Jam Night in the town for the past four years as well as being a professional musician. At this concert Ian will be showcasing his new CD - Swim Over Me. This album is a mixture of rock, blues and ballads, all self-penned and drawing on Ian's musical influences over the past twenty years The concert will have appeal to a wide range of musical tastes. Ian will be accompanied on stage by Adam Jindra on bass and Patrick Corner-Walker on drums. The support act for this event is Isi Dee a young female singer/songwriter who is currently gathering a lot of attention for her talent. There's is so much good American folk and country music that sometimes some fine homegrown music can easily be overlooked. The Carrivick Sisters play a variety of bluegrass instruments (essentially guitar, mandolin, banjo, dobro and fiddle) and although they are still only 21, From The Fields is their fourth CD - and very enjoyable it is too. All will be competing over the three days of the festival for the right to go on to the All-England Theatre Festival (AETF) Quarter Final to be held at North Stainley on 14 April. This year three of the above groups will be performing Shakespearean repertoire at the Nidderdale Festival and will hope to advance to the later stages of the AETF's National Shakespeare Competition which is being held in association with the Royal Shakespeare Company. John Watterson has performed the songs of Jake Thackray at festivals, concerts, clubs, after dinner venues and – most specially – to members of Jake’s family. Jake’s songs are exquisitely funny, satirical, incisive, irreverent, witty and gloriously un-PC – and sometimes all of these at the same time.
