- An Intimate Evening with DAVE SWARBRICK plus support Rachel Goodwin (from Feb 18, 2012 07:30 PM to Feb 18, 2012 10:45 PM)
- When Dave asked Kula if he could return to the Frazer in Knaresborough Yorkshire to present an intimate evening of live music and anecdotes – how could we refuse?! In ours, and many others eyes, Dave Swarbrick is a legend and icon of the folk-rock movement as well as being a virtuoso fiddle-player. His career spans across five decades during which time he played an intregal part in the classic line-up of Fairport Convention. He has also worked with Martin Carthy over many years with whom he SOLD OUT the Frazer Theatre in 2009. SUPPORT Rachel, a former member of Waking The Witch, takes a back seat in the music world these days as she concentrates on motherhood and teaching her own children the joys of music! But she can still be tempted by the odd offer of a performance now and again and is delighted to have been asked once more to grace the stage of her favourite home turf venue, the Frazer Theatre in Knaresborough. Doors 7.00pm at the Frazer Theatre, Knaresborough Tickets : £14.00 • Bar • Unallocated Seating – first come first served! - Blue Remembered Hills By Dennis Potter (from Aug 26, 2011 07:30 PM to Aug 26, 2011 08:30 PM)
- Paper Zoo Theatre Company presents Blue Remembered Hills for ten performances only as part of the Company’s regional tour. Originally written for television, Blue Remembered Hills is a deceptively simple play about a group of eight year old children growing up in the Forest of Dean during the Second World War. Through their innocent eyes we see the strains of living with fear and uncertainty, as well as the petty rivalries and jealousies that fuel their games. As the children bicker and play, their innocence is tainted by the shadow of violence leading to a tragic outcome. Using their trademark blend of music, movement and humour, Paper Zoo presents an energetic performance of this moving tale of lost innocence.

Eddie is challenged by the boys to persuade "frigid" Bridget to "touch his whatsit" by closing time, over the course of the night he tries everything, with very little success. The owner of the club, aging rocker Eric "Rubber-legs" De Vere, watches and lends an ear to the young people as they navigate the rituals of teenage fashion, music, sexual moves and relationships

- Mary Coughlan (from Oct 29, 2011 07:00 PM to Oct 29, 2011 10:15 PM)
- Now appearing live in Yorkshire at this excellent venue in Knaresborough The Frazer Theatre live music from this major music artist. Mary Coughlan is musical royalty in Ireland, a position she has occupied for the last 25 years. A flame-haired, bluntly outspoken mother of five, she is Ireland’s Billie Holiday; a jazz and blues singer whose life story gives weight to the cliche that the best singers are the ones with most painful lives. If anyone wondered quite why she was such a booze-soaked hellraiser in her time, her autobiography, Bloody Mary: My Story, offers up ample reason.
- Matthews Southern Comfort (from Dec 02, 2011 07:00 PM to Dec 02, 2011 10:30 PM)
- Now appearing live in Yorkshire at this excellent venue in Knaresborough The Frazer Theatre live music from this major music artist. Never let it be said that Iain Matthews is one to dwell on past successes. These days, most band ‘reunions’ take place because of the huge financial rewards available and occasionally, record company pressure. In the case of Matthews Southern Comfort, neither reason applies. The original band wasn’t around long enough to have any fanatical following and there is no high profile label hovering in the wings. MSC has been reborn simply because Matthews feels he didn’t quite get it right the first time. Originally a vehicle for his musical concepts, forty years on, the sounds and songs just keep on coming. In conceiving and assembling this unique group of spirited and likeminded players, Matthews has once again surpassed all expectations. The musicianship and commitment are second to none and the sumptuous, soaring vocal harmonies instantly bring to mind the 60's version of the band. This spectacular band, represents both the past and the present, as Matthews cleverly reinvents some of the classic MSC songs, to accompany the new originals. If you're looking for an evening of pure, unadulterated, sonic bliss, Matthews Southern Comfort lives. Tickets www.kula-productions.com

- Lets Rock The Juke Box (from Oct 22, 2011 07:30 PM to Oct 22, 2011 10:40 PM)
- Past Masters are a group of musicians from Sheffield , who were formed in the year 2000 by former Dave Berry & The Crusiers lead guitarist Dave Robinson, along with ex Cruisers bassist Derek Brown, Cadillacs rhythm guitarist Malc Towndrow, sax player Mick Batty and Drummer David Eyre. The band specialises in the music of the late fifties through to the seventies and feature many of the best loved guitar and sax based hits from this magical period in time. They were joined in 2011 by Daniel Martin and Adrian Fountain to boost the instrumental and vocal power of the band which allows a considerable repertoire of vocal harmony songs as well as golden instrumental numbers. There are no fewer than five lead vocalists in this line up. Hits from Elvis, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, The Everley Brothers, Carl Perkins, Cliff Richard, The Shadows, Billy Fury, The Beatles, Acker Bilk, Gerry Rafferty and everything in between makes this a show not to be missed - it's all in there and it's LIVE. Several of the band members double up on each others instruments and there are three lead guitarists on show. 'Let's Rock The Jukebox' is a fast moving journey through rock and roll and good pop music and there's even a self penned song from the band 'Let's Rock The Jukebox' which is performed on the night and available on a CD album, should anyone wish to take home a piece of the action. - An Intimate evening withDick Gaughan (from Jun 08, 2012 07:00 PM to Jun 08, 2012 10:00 PM)
- Kula Productions is please to bring Dick Gaughan to the Frazer Theatre in Knaresborough. I met Dick a number of times when I lived in Edinburgh as I designed covers for a few of his albums including the splendid Sail On. Of course Dick is probably best known for his 1989 Topic Records release Handful of Earth which is now rightly regarded as a bona fide classic. The photo on this page was taken for the inside cover of Sail On by Dave Harrold – at the time a young Edinburgh photographer who now seems to have dropped off the radar! It's a superb shot taken down on Leith's waterfront (where I use to live) and where Dick hails from. It captures the power and strength of not only Dick's singing and music but also of his left-wing political views – a true Scottish troubadour. John Haxby

Its artfully chosen mix of traditional and contemporary material, reinvented classics and little-known gems, and above all Heidi’s achingly bittersweet, spun-gold voice, won glowing reviews across three continents, a US Indie Acoustic Award and a Best Female Vocalist nomination in the Irish Music Awards. With critics mooting comparisons as diverse as Björk, Enya, Linda Ronstadt, Norah Jones and Kirsty MacColl, the album received widespread radio airplay and has been followed by two years’ solid gigging, both as headline act and sought-after special guest. “What an impressive record this is. Very highly recommended.” Billboard
- Kula productions in conjunction with the Knaresborough Players present "Fake Thackery" plus support from Union Jill (from Dec 01, 2012 07:30 PM to Dec 01, 2012 11:00 PM)
- This joint venture between Kula Productions and the Knaresborough Players is a fund raiser to raise funds for a new roof....... John Watterson has performed the songs of Jake Thackray at festivals, concerts, clubs, after dinner venues and – most specially – to members of Jake’s family. Jake’s songs are exquisitely funny, satirical, incisive, irreverent, witty and gloriously un-PC – and sometimes all of these at the same time. Jake was a one off, his poetry broke the rules yet worked beautifully. He was a true craftsman of the English language, and his legacy of scores of songs continues to delight audiences of all ages today. John's appreciation and love of Jake Thackray's music is obvious to his audience. John’s performance is a celebration of the man that was Jake Thackray - his work, his genius and his very essence, an essence that the new age of music lovers are in danger of missing out on. John is a talented guitarist and vocalist and has that engaging quality that makes you want to listen to his performance. When you wrap these ingredients up in the songs of Jake Thackray the result is a highly entertaining, heartfelt tribute to one of the finest songwriters of the 20th century
