Matthews Southern Comfort (from Dec 02, 2011 07:00 PM to Dec 02, 2011 10:30 PM)
Now appearing live in Yorkshire at this excellent venue in Knaresborough The Frazer Theatre live music from this major music artist. Never let it be said that Iain Matthews is one to dwell on past successes. These days, most band ‘reunions’ take place because of the huge financial rewards available and occasionally, record company pressure. In the case of Matthews Southern Comfort, neither reason applies. The original band wasn’t around long enough to have any fanatical following and there is no high profile label hovering in the wings. MSC has been reborn simply because Matthews feels he didn’t quite get it right the first time. Originally a vehicle for his musical concepts, forty years on, the sounds and songs just keep on coming. In conceiving and assembling this unique group of spirited and likeminded players, Matthews has once again surpassed all expectations. The musicianship and commitment are second to none and the sumptuous, soaring vocal harmonies instantly bring to mind the 60's version of the band. This spectacular band, represents both the past and the present, as Matthews cleverly reinvents some of the classic MSC songs, to accompany the new originals. If you're looking for an evening of pure, unadulterated, sonic bliss, Matthews Southern Comfort lives. Tickets www.kula-productions.com
Curtain Up for Murder (from Nov 17, 2011 07:30 PM to Nov 19, 2011 09:50 PM)
The "end of the pier show to end all end of the pier shows...." The local drama group is rehearsing for their latest production in their pier theatre. The weather has taken a turn for the worse and, unluckily for the actors, someone has accidentally locked them in. But when, one by one, actors start dying, was the lock-in an accident after all? Is there a murderer in their midst, or is there someone else in the theatre with them?? As the evening progresses, tempers fray and home truths come to the fore, but who will be left to listen? Tickets £7.00 and £6.00 (concessions) from the Olde Chemist Shoppe. Market Place. Knaresborough
Mary Coughlan (from Oct 29, 2011 07:00 PM to Oct 29, 2011 10:15 PM)
Now appearing live in Yorkshire at this excellent venue in Knaresborough The Frazer Theatre live music from this major music artist. Mary Coughlan is musical royalty in Ireland, a position she has occupied for the last 25 years. A flame-haired, bluntly outspoken mother of five, she is Ireland’s Billie Holiday; a jazz and blues singer whose life story gives weight to the cliche that the best singers are the ones with most painful lives. If anyone wondered quite why she was such a booze-soaked hellraiser in her time, her autobiography, Bloody Mary: My Story, offers up ample reason.
Harrogate Gilbert and Sullivan Society (from Oct 28, 2011 07:30 PM to Oct 28, 2011 10:15 PM)

Lets Rock The Juke Box (from Oct 22, 2011 07:30 PM to Oct 22, 2011 10:40 PM)
Past Masters are a group of musicians from Sheffield , who were formed in the year 2000 by former Dave Berry & The Crusiers lead guitarist Dave Robinson, along with ex Cruisers bassist Derek Brown, Cadillacs rhythm guitarist Malc Towndrow, sax player Mick Batty and Drummer David Eyre. The band specialises in the music of the late fifties through to the seventies and feature many of the best loved guitar and sax based hits from this magical period in time. They were joined in 2011 by Daniel Martin and Adrian Fountain to boost the instrumental and vocal power of the band which allows a considerable repertoire of vocal harmony songs as well as golden instrumental numbers. There are no fewer than five lead vocalists in this line up. Hits from Elvis, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, The Everley Brothers, Carl Perkins, Cliff Richard, The Shadows, Billy Fury, The Beatles, Acker Bilk, Gerry Rafferty and everything in between makes this a show not to be missed - it's all in there and it's LIVE. Several of the band members double up on each others instruments and there are three lead guitarists on show. 'Let's Rock The Jukebox' is a fast moving journey through rock and roll and good pop music and there's even a self penned song from the band 'Let's Rock The Jukebox' which is performed on the night and available on a CD album, should anyone wish to take home a piece of the action. Tickets from Pear Records High Street Knaresborough

Eddie is challenged by the boys to persuade "frigid" Bridget to "touch his whatsit" by closing time, over the course of the night he tries everything, with very little success. The owner of the club, aging rocker Eric "Rubber-legs" De Vere, watches and lends an ear to the young people as they navigate the rituals of teenage fashion, music, sexual moves and relationships
